More than two decades working where strategy, resources, and human lives meet

I did not enter humanitarian and development work because it looked like an interesting profession. I entered it because inequality, displacement, hunger, exclusion, and the loss of human dignity were never abstract issues to me.

For more than two decades, I have worked alongside communities, civil society organizations, governments, local partners, donors, and international NGOs across South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. I have seen what happens when people are excluded from education, health care, livelihoods, protection, and decision-making. I have also seen what becomes possible when communities are listened to, local organizations are strengthened, and institutions have the resources and leadership to respond well.

That experience shaped my professional philosophy: development is not simply the delivery of projects. It is the patient work of building stronger systems, supporting local leadership, protecting dignity, and turning evidence from the field into decisions that improve people's lives.

Throughout my career, I have designed and led complex humanitarian and development programmes covering women's rights, governance, nutrition, food security, WASH, protection, economic empowerment, inclusion, and civil society strengthening. I have managed multi-sector portfolios, worked through periods of crisis and uncertainty, supported partnerships with more than 44 local organizations, and coordinated with governments, UN agencies, donors, and international NGOs.

Funding became a central part of this work because strong ideas cannot create impact without resources, institutional capacity, credible partnerships, and donor confidence.

Across the organizations I have served — including Oxfam, Action Against Hunger, and Humanity & Inclusion — I contributed to programme design, donor positioning, partnership development, proposal leadership, grants management, and institutional funding portfolios exceeding $60 million. These results were achieved through collective organizational effort, with my role focused on programme strategy, donor engagement, proposal leadership, portfolio development, and senior coordination.

Over time, I became particularly skilled at translating complex field realities into clear programme strategies and compelling funding cases. My work has never been limited to writing proposals. It begins much earlier: understanding the problem, assessing organizational readiness, shaping the right intervention, identifying credible partners, building evidence, managing risk, and determining whether an opportunity genuinely supports the mission.

Today, I bring that institutional experience directly to nonprofits and mission-driven organizations. I advise leaders on funding strategy, programme design, partnerships, resource mobilization, and organizational growth — helping them move beyond reactive grant applications toward stronger, more sustainable systems.

Independent consulting is a new expression of my work, not a departure from it. My professional identity remains rooted in humanitarian action, international development, civil society, and the belief that capable organizations can change lives when they have the strategy, partnerships, and resources to do so.
